Port Melville
June was a very busy month at the Port with the loading of the 16th export shipment of Tiwi wood chips onto the bulk carrier ‘Green Harvest’ which departed on 16 June and the loading of the bulk carrier ‘Manzanillo’ with the 2nd export shipment of Tiwi pine logs. Both shipments were undertaken safely which is a credit to the Port and PMP teams. In addition, the Port bunkered a number of fishing and Commonwealth vessels as we grow this side of our operations.
June also saw the arrival of the Port’s new tug fleet which is in partnership with ‘Coastal Tug and Barge’. The MT Capel and MT Kioloa are now home ported at Port Melville and can be berthed on the wharf. This is an exciting development for NTPM and CTB and grows the capability of the Port to support vessels.
